~YOSHIKO SAI / 佐井好子~
Since she was a child, Yoshiko Sai showed that she had singing skills. In 1972 she decided to devote himself to music and composition, as well as poetry.
In 1975 she released her first album, Mangekyō (萬花鏡), a real gem of Japanese music. A year later was released her greatest masterpiece, Mikkō (密航), a monument of Psychedelic Folk, and one of the greatest japanese albums ever recorded.
The excellent Taiji no Yume / "Fetal Dream" (胎児の夢) was released in 1977, and it can be considered her greatest album with Mikkō.
In 1978 she released her fourth album, Chō no Sumu Heya / "A Room with a Butterfly" (蝶のすむ部屋): sensation felt by the same singer in that period.
In 1979, after having released her fourth album, Yoshiko Sai stopped her musical activity and traveled to India, the country she loved and from which she was fascinated.
In 2001, Yoshiko resumed her musical activities, and collaborated with the guitarist Jojo Hiroshige, with whom he released the studio album Crimson Voyage.
Exactly 30 years after her last studio album, was released Taklamakan (タクラマカン), her latest studio album.
The sound of Yoshiko Sai can be compared to the flow of a crystal river, characterized by an immense elegance and mastery of the voice, as well as by great dreamlike and dreamy atmospheres, which transport the listener. Her greatest masterpieces are the excellent Taiji no Yume, title track of the album she released in 1977, the moving Yoidore Shibai, the sidereal Yuki-Onna, the dreamy Yoru no Mado, the sweet Kagami Jigoku and the creative, and perhaps best known, Yoru no Sei and for last Mikkō, a masterpiece of Psycheldelic Folk music.
Yoshiko Sai is probably the best female japanese singer and songwriter of all times. I really recommend her elegant and sublime music.
